School Year 2020-2021 Online Enrollment Now Open
Nome Public Schools is excited to continue online New and Returning Student Enrollment for the 2020-2021 school year! This process replaces the paper forms sent home at the beginning of each school year. New and Returning Student Enrollment is now open and available online. Enrollment can be completed on any computer, tablet, or phone connected to the internet.
How to get started:
New Student Enrollment - if your child did NOT complete last school year at Nome Public Schools please use this link New Student Enrollment, login or setup your account, and follow the online prompts to complete the registration (see below for more info).
Returning Student Enrollment - if your child completed last school year at Nome Public Schools and is returning this year please use this link Returning Student Enrollment in conjunction with the “snapcode” that you will receive via emailing, USPS letter, or text to complete the registration. The “snapcode” is like a key to your child’s Returning Student Enrollment record. You should receive a unique “snapcode” or “snapcode link” for each child. Login to an existing account or create a new account if you have never used PowerSchool Enrollment (see below for more info). Parents with an Access account can login to PowerSchool and then click the Enrollment link in the left side bar for each of their children (no “snapcode” is required for this process).
All Enrollments – the use of an account allows you to securely save your work and come back later if necessary. You can use your email address or cell phone number for your account name. If you already have an account, you can sign in and complete the form. (You should use the same account to complete forms for multiple children.) When you have finished entering your information, click “Submit.” This will send all the information you’ve entered to the school. If you are unable to print, sign, or upload documentation you can still submit the packet, your school’s registrar will contact you to make arrangements to receive any missing documents with signatures. If you cannot click on the “Submit” button, please make sure that you have answered all questions marked as “required”. Contact Nome Public Schools at (907) 443-2231 or email them at firstname.lastname@example.org to ask any general questions about the form, the Enrollment process, or if you need access to a computer to complete Enrollment. For technical support, visit our PowerSchool Community help center at https://help.powerschool.com or click “Help” or “Contact Us” from any form page. Thank you! Nome Public Schools
Nome Public Schools Announces Smart Start Plan
Nome Public Schools Families - As we plan for the start of the 2020-2021 school year, our guiding principles are
1) Prioritize safety of students and staff
2) Students in school for as many days possible for as long as possible and
3) efforts must be made to ensure equitable access to education for all students.
We must balance the educational, social and emotional needs of our students with the need for a safe and healthy school and community. As health conditions evolve and more information is available, some areas of this plan may need to change. We will work to communicate school specifics and student details as we get closer to the first day of school.
Our planning is based on guidelines from the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development (DEED) and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHSS), and we will work closely with our health partners at Public Health and the Norton Sound Hospital to anticipate shifts between Learning Models based on community case numbers and risk of community spread.
Please see this document (Smart Start Plan) for the Nome Public Schools Smart Start Plan for School Year 2020-2021.
Remind App Notification
Parents / Guardians - We are excited to share that Nome Public Schools is rolling out Remind district wide! If you're not already familiar with Remind, it's a classroom communication tool that makes it easy to stay involved with your child's learning. Remind is free to use, and you'll be able to get and send messages on any device—even a simple text message from your mobile phone!
As part of this rollout, official accounts will be created for all the educators, parents, and students at Nome Public Schools. During the month of August 2020, you'll receive an email or text message from Remind. All you need to do is follow the steps in the message to finish setting up your account. Here is a video demo to see how Remind works. We're excited to make connecting with our families more engaging!
