Hi! My name is Ms. Finney, and I am a new teacher at NBHS. I am from a small farming town in Illinois, and I have always wanted to see Alaska! I am very excited to be living and teaching in this beautiful town. I love teaching English because it allows us to read and understand the world around us, as well as write to express the world within us. 

 

I attended Olivet Nazarene University to receive degrees in English Education, Spanish, and Teaching English as a Second Language. I have a love for traveling, and I have spent time traveling, learning, and teaching in Spain, Portugal, Mexico, Ecuador, Burkina Faso, England, France, South Korea, and Uganda.

 

In my free time, I enjoy reading and writing, baking, and being outside hiking or kayaking when I can. I have a dog named Hemingway after the American author, and I have a cat named Frida in honor of the Meixcan artist Frida Khalo.
