Hello! Here you will find information relating to my life and my educational philosophy.
"Experience: the most brutal of teachers. But you learn, my god do you learn." - C.S. Lewis
I am a native Oregonian. I lived in the state my whole life until 2014 when I came here to Nome. I am a first-generation college student from a small farming family. Growing up my parents taught me the importance of education, respect, and work ethic.
I attended Southern Oregon University and earned a B.A. in Communications with an emphasis in Photojournalism. After graduating from college, I took a five-year hiatus from education, in which I worked as a photographer and a traffic control flagger. In 2012 I started attending Oregon State University and obtained my Masters in Teaching Secondary English in 2014.
I believe the experiences we have are a significant factor in the people we become. My passion for Literature is coupled with a strong work ethic and desire to connect with students. I consider myself to be a lifelong learner. If I could sustain myself as a career student, I would!
The past six years in Nome I have taken on the challenging, yet rewarding, task of coaching cheerleading. We took first place in the Large Schools Division in 2018! I always look forward to a great year with our incredibly motivated athletes. Our team loves to motivate and represent Nome-Beltz! I also advise other clubs within the school. I LOVE MY JOB.
