I have been in and out of Alaska since 1989 and after a long stint living and teaching out east, I moved back to Alaska in 2013. Currently, I am teaching World Literature (E2) , British Literature (E4), and various electives like Creative Writing and Speech and Debate. I believe in the power of language and that all students who enter our learning community have the ability to grow as readers, writers, and critical thinkers. Our classroom is a lively and engaging place and I encourage you to stop by and check out what we're doing! Maybe we'll be having an impromtu Open Mic, competing in Beowulf inspired boasts, growing our world view through a Socratic Seminar, honing in on our writing skills, or unpacking the pages of a novel through a variety of collaborative learning techniques. A.C. Grayling wrote: “To read is to fly: it is to soar to a point of vantage which gives a view over wide terrains of history, human variety, ideas, shared experience and the fruits of many inquiries.” Let's soar!
