Mr. Ryan Fox

Greetings Nome community!  I’m Ryan Fox, and I’m super excited to be teaching 6th, 7th and 8th grade social studies at Nome Beltz this year.  I grew up in the small but special city of Danbury, Connecticut (Once the hat making capital of the world!)  I’ve lived in Albany, New York for the last several years where I obtained my undergraduate degree in history, and my masters degree in secondary education at the New York State University of Albany.  While pursuing my graduate degree, I student-taught in several different urban and rural school settings.

Outside the classroom, I’m strongly passionate about endurance activities, particularly running, cycling, backpacking, and sometimes a combination of them all at once. Before arriving in Nome, I rode my bike 3,500 miles from my prior home in Albany New York to Seattle Washington before flying to Alaska.  After I finished college, I spent four months living in the woods backpacking  the entirety of the Appalachian trail from Maine to Georgia.  Throughout my travels, I have gained a great appreciation for the history and geography of our world, and I’m looking forward to sharing that appreciation with our middle school students through our content this school year.

You are sure to catch me riding around town on my gravel bike throughout the year!
